The authorities of Dhaka University on Saturday issued a notice announcing its weeklong plan to restrict external vehicles from entering the campus.

As per the notice, on weekends and government holidays the restriction will remain in effect for seven hours from 3:00pm to 10:00pm, while on workdays for five hours from 5:00pm to 10:00pm.

No vehicles will be allowed to enter the campus without carrying Dhaka University stickers, the notice said.

Emergency services such as ambulance, doctors, patients, journalists and other government vehicles would remain outside the purview of the restriction. The notification stated that the regulation is being implemented for the overall safety of Dhaka University students.

The seven points where entries will be restricted are Shahbagh, Doel Chattar, Burn Unit, Shivbari Crossing, Fuller Road, Palashi Intersection and Nilkhet, said the notification.

Meanwhile, the entry points to Dhaka University remained restricted on Saturday as well, causing traffic congestion in the campus area. Passengers arriving by cars or motorcycles faced inconvenience.
